We lost one of our dogs to cancer in August and our home just was not the same. It felt empty, lonely and just sad. We couldn’t handle watching our other dog suffer in sadness and we knew that she needed something to bring her joy again, as well as us. We looked for a few weeks at different places online and then we came across, It Takes a Village Rescue. We saw a couple of different dogs that we were interested in meeting. So we made some arrangements and drove the 2.5 hours to take a look. When we got there we looked around and played with some of the dogs, but none of them felt like the perfect fit. The puppy we wanted to see wasn’t there and we had accepted that we wouldn’t come home with a dog that day. Then we were told that the puppy we saw online, his brother was heading in from its foster home for an adoption event. We were super excited and we went to meet “Willy” (now Reggie) and we instantly fell in love with him. We knew he was the one. His personality stole our hearts immediately! Bringing him home was a challenge at first. Our other dog was unsure for the first few days of what to think of him. Then it was like everything just clicked, they are now inseparable, best friends. And for us, he was the perfect next dog to help mend and heal our hearts. We all just love him so much and feel incredibly blessed that we were not only able to rescue him, but him to rescue us as well. Reggie has put our hearts and home back together! We cannot thank It Takes a Village enough for bringing him into our lives and rescuing all the many other animals and finding them wonderful homes!
